ᯓ★୭˚. RIVALS OR MORE?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
જ⁀➴ “what are we?” event masterlist
synopsis: a question lingers between you and bakugou, sharp and biting, much like the competition that keeps pulling you back into each other's orbits.
pairing: timeskip!bakugou katsuki x f!reader
Tumblr media
the rivalry between you and bakugou katsuki was the kind of tale that pro-hero rookies whispered about, an unrelenting contest that started years ago at u.a. high.
from the moment the two of you stepped onto campus, it was as though the universe had aligned you as polar opposites.
bakugou’s explosive temper and fiery quirk were impossible to ignore, while your sharp tongue and precise control made it clear you wouldn’t be overshadowed by anyone—especially not him.
it began in your first year, during basic hero training, when aizawa-sensei had paired the two of you for a sparring match.
bakugou’s smug grin was infuriating as he rolled his shoulders and cracked his knuckles.
“don’t cry when i wipe the floor with you,” he sneered, crimson eyes blazing with confidence.
“save the big talk for someone you can actually beat,” you shot back, stepping onto the mat with your head held high.
the match was chaotic. bakugou’s explosions came fast and furious, his relentless offense forcing you to dodge and counter at a breakneck pace.
but you refused to give ground. the air smelled of smoke and scorched fabric by the time aizawa called it a draw, both of you battered and breathless.
bakugou wiped a streak of soot from his face, glaring at you. “next time, I’ll crush you.”
“not if I crush you first,” you retorted, wincing as recovery girl dabbed ointment on a nasty burn.
from that day on, the rivalry became a constant. every training session was a chance to prove who was better.
even the smallest victories turned into battlegrounds.
group projects were a nightmare for anyone unfortunate enough to share the assignment with the two of you; more than one teammate had begged for reassignment just to escape the tension.
things reached a boiling point during the training camp in your second year. paired together for a survival exercise, the friction was immediate.
bakugou stomped through the forest with his usual impatience, barking orders as if he expected you to follow blindly.
“stop lagging behind!” he snapped, glancing over his shoulder to where you were scanning the dense undergrowth.
“I’m not lagging,” you replied coolly, stepping over a fallen log with deliberate ease. “I’m thinking. you should try it sometime.”
“don’t start with me,” he growled.
despite the bickering, the two of you worked with a kind of unspoken rhythm, covering each other’s blind spots without even needing to communicate.
you hated to admit it, but bakugou’s sheer power was impressive, and his instincts in a fight were razor-sharp.
it was during that exercise that the dynamic shifted, if only slightly.
when you stumbled into a hidden trap, a quick snare wrapping around your ankle, bakugou had reacted instantly. his explosions shredded the ropes in a matter of seconds, his glare more intense than usual.
“can’t believe you let yourself get caught like that,” he muttered.
you rolled your eyes, brushing off dirt as you got back to your feet. “thanks for the save.”
“whatever,” he huffed, looking away, but you caught the faintest twitch of a smirk.
those moments were rare, fleeting, but they stuck with you. even as adults, long after u.a. had become a memory, the rivalry burned just as brightly.
every headline that mentioned bakugou’s latest exploits made your blood boil. every time your name appeared in the rankings above his, you could practically hear him grinding his teeth.
it was a constant, infuriating reminder that he was always just there, always pushing you to be better—even when you hated him for it.
for years, you’d managed to keep your distance, tackling different missions. it was better that way. no distractions, no arguments.
but the pro-hero commission had other plans.
their reasoning was infuriatingly logical: two top-ranking heroes with a proven track record of results, a shared history of success despite—or perhaps because of—your rivalry.
and so, without consultation or warning, your paths were forcibly crossed again.
the moment you’d seen bakugou striding into the meeting room, your stomach had twisted in a knot of irritation and reluctant anticipation.
the years apart had done little to dull the intensity of his presence, nor had they cooled the fire of your rivalry.
bakugou walks to the far end of the table and plops down, his arms crossed over his chest, his usual scowl firmly in place.
his crimson eyes flicker with barely restrained irritation, and the rhythmic tap of his boot against the floor echoes in the silence, each strike a silent drumbeat to his rising impatience.
you sit at the opposite end, your posture mirroring his, arms folded tightly across your chest. your jaw locks, muscles taut as you resist the urge to roll your eyes for the umpteenth time.
“why the hell do I have to work with you?” his voice cuts through the silence, sharp and jagged, carrying with it a heat that isn’t entirely metaphorical.
his glare burns into you, daring you to fight back. so you lean forward, meeting his fire with your own.
“you think I’m thrilled about this, bakugou?” you snap. “this mission is too important to let your ego screw it up.”
his foot stills mid-tap, and for a moment, the room feels unnervingly quiet. then, he scoffs, his lips curling into a sneer as he leans forward, his tone dropping to a dangerous growl.
“my ego?” he bites out, the heat in his voice rising. “you’re the one who’s always trying to prove you’re better than me!”
you can’t help the smirk tugging at the corner of your mouth. there’s a certain satisfaction in lighting his fuse.
“that’s because I am better than you,” you shoot back, your tone teetering on smugness.
his jaw clenches, veins visibly straining against his neck as his temper flares. his hands twitch as though he’s moments away from letting loose a barrage of explosions just to make his point.
before he can retort, a sharp clearing of a throat slices through the air like a knife.
the tension snaps, both of you glancing toward the commission’s representative.
“enough,” she says, her voice steely and cutting. her gray eyes are cold as they flicker between you and bakugou, clearly unimpressed by your outbursts.
“you two are professionals. act like it. this mission requires complete cooperation, and I don’t care how much you dislike each other.”
the word cooperation feels like a slap in the face. you straighten in your chair, jaw tightening as you cast a sidelong glance at bakugou.
he glares at the holographic display now—typical.
the display flickers to life, illuminating the room with a sharp blue glow as the mission briefing begins. details of a criminal syndicate tied to a dangerous quirk-enhancing drug fill the room.
you nod along, taking in the information, though you’re acutely aware of bakugou’s every shift, every exhaled breath.
as the meeting draws to a close, the representative’s tone grows pointed.
“this mission is high-stakes. your ability to work together effectively will determine its success—or failure.”
bakugou stands abruptly, the screech of his chair against the polished floor startlingly loud. “fine,” he mutters, his voice low and clipped as he stalks toward the door.
you sigh, rising to follow. “try not to blow everything up before we get the intel, okay?”
he shoots a glare over his shoulder, but there’s something almost amused in the way his lips twitch, like he wants to snap back but can’t quite muster the effort. “just stay out of my way, h/n.”
the door shuts behind him with a heavy click, and you let out a long breath.
the mission hasn’t even started yet, and already you feel the weight of it—not just the stakes but the inevitability of clashing with bakugou.
the city below buzzes with its usual hum of activity: flashing neon signs, the occasional honk of a car, and distant murmurs of a world that never quite sleeps.
the syndicate’s hideout looms in the distance, nestled within a secluded section of the city that seems to thrive on the shadows.
the building is plain, but you know better than to judge based on appearances.
you glance at bakugou, who is already adjusting his gauntlets. the metallic clicking of his gear fills the silence between you, his movements sharp and methodical.
“I’ll take the front. you sneak in through the back,” bakugou says, his voice laced with the kind of confidence only someone like him possesses.
he looks at you, his crimson eyes sharp and unyielding. “stay out of my way.”
you raise an eyebrow at his commanding tone.
there’s something about it—something that always gets under your skin. but you refuse to give him the satisfaction of showing it.
“typical bakugou,” you say with a smirk, shaking your head in exaggerated disbelief. “always going for the flashy entrance. no wonder they call you ‘dynamight.’”
bakugou’s lips twitch into a smirk of his own.
“yeah? and what do they call you? ‘miss perfect’?” his voice drips with the challenge, and you feel the simmering heat of competition between you two.
you raise your chin, your confidence just as unwavering as his.
“‘h/n,’ actually,” you correct, your voice dripping with mock sweetness that masks the genuine pride you feel for the name.
“because I get the job done without leaving a mess behind.”
his lip curls into a scowl, and he mutters something under his breath that you don’t quite catch, but you’re pretty sure it’s some variation of “show-off.”
you chuckle as you move into position. his temper is always so easy to provoke, yet it never fails to amuse you.
crouching low, you disappear into the shadows, the familiar rhythm of working alongside bakugou settling in like a second skin.
despite your constant bickering, you have to admit there’s a certain harmony in how you two work together.
as you make your way to the back entrance of the hideout, you hear the distant thrum of bakugou’s footsteps as he moves toward the front.
you know he'll create a commotion, likely to draw attention and give you the perfect opportunity to slip in unnoticed. it’s his style—loud, chaotic, and effective.
you pause for a moment, assessing the situation. the back door is guarded, as you expect, but not too heavily. you’ll have to move quickly, but this is your element.
the guards are predictable, and you can use that to your advantage. with a quiet breath, you step forward, easily dispatching the first guard with a well-placed kick that sends him tumbling silently into a dark corner.
everything is going according to plan, and for a moment, you feel the familiar rush of adrenaline that comes with the territory. you aren’t just good at this—you’re damn good at it.
but as you near the main floor, the sound of shouting catches your attention, followed by the unmistakable crackle of bakugou’s explosions.
your heart skips a beat. it’s too early for things to go sideways—he isn’t supposed to be discovered yet. but, knowing bakugou, you don’t doubt he’s already drawn half of the syndicate’s attention.
the man never does know how to be discreet.
you curse under your breath but push forward, pressing yourself against the cold concrete wall as you move deeper into the compound.
every instinct you have screams at you to hurry, but you can’t afford to be sloppy—not now.
as you round a corner, a sharp crack of sound pierces the air—one you immediately recognize as a gunshot.
before you can react, something slams into your side, sending you sprawling across the floor. pain shoots through your ribs, and the world spins in a blur as you fight to stay conscious.
you stagger to your feet, heart racing.
your vision is blurry from the shock of the blow, but you manage to focus. the guards have noticed you—no surprise there—but now you’re outnumbered.
as you prepare to defend yourself, the familiar sound of bakugou’s explosions rings out, closer than before. your mind screams at you to hold on, but the pain is beginning to cloud your thoughts.
the world seems to slow as you brace yourself against the oncoming guards.
blood pounds in your ears, your vision narrows, and every muscle in your body screams for you to move—but you’re frozen.
you can feel the gunshot wound throbbing, hot and raw, in your side. your breaths come in sharp, jagged gasps as you prepare for the worst.
and then, everything explodes.
it’s as if the entire world has been set on fire.
a massive blast of force erupts from the far side of the room, so powerful it shakes the walls and sends debris scattering.
you instinctively throw yourself to the ground to shield yourself from the shockwave, your hands scraping against the cold floor.
when the smoke and dust begin to settle, a familiar voice cuts through the haze.
“hey! move, dammit!”
bakugou appears in the doorway, his silhouette framed by the fiery remnants of his explosion. his eyes lock onto you with a terrifying intensity.
you barely have time to process the sight of him before he charges toward you, his powerful form cutting through the remaining guards with ease.
with one swift motion, he sends a group of them flying, his explosions igniting the air with a deafening roar.
the remaining guards scatter, too intimidated by bakugou’s wrath to continue their assault.
“y/n, get up!” he barks, his voice sharp as a whip.
his eyes are on you now, and the anger in them isn’t the same as usual—it’s raw, a mix of frustration, fear, and something else you can’t quite place.
you push yourself to your feet, stumbling slightly, the pain in your side making every movement feel like you’re dragging a weight behind you.
“don’t you ever do something so goddamn stupid again!” bakugou growls, his voice low and thick with rage.
he isn’t even looking at the enemies anymore, but at you—his gaze pinning you in place.
you straighten, ignoring the blood staining your shirt, and shoot him a glare.
“what were you thinking, bakugou?” you snap, your voice rough but defiant. “you think charging in here like that’s any better?”
bakugou’s jaw tightens, and his eyes narrow. the tension between you is palpable. but then, with a sound that almost resembles a growl, bakugou snaps.
“don’t try to turn this on me!” he barks. “you could’ve been killed! you think I’m gonna just let you die in some goddamn back alley like this?”
his voice breaks, cracking just slightly as he glares down at you, his fists clenched at his sides. “what were you thinking?! do you want to die or something?!”
for a moment, you’re struck silent. the anger in his voice is so raw, so unfiltered, that it takes the wind out of you.
but the hurt behind it makes your chest tighten. you have never heard bakugou sound like that before. never seen him this...desperate.
“why do you even care, bakugou?” you ask, your voice softer than intended. you hadn’t meant for it to sound that way, but it’s too late to take it back.
bakugou freezes, his eyes widening for a fraction of a second before he scowls, looking away as if he hasn’t just heard you.
the silence that stretches between you is suffocating, and you can’t help but feel exposed.
you aren’t sure what possessed you to ask such a question, but the way bakugou is standing there, his posture tight and his fists still trembling, makes you feel the need to.
“I just—do, okay?” bakugou finally mutters, his voice gruff and not nearly as confident as he usually sounds. “now quit acting like you don’t need help for once, and let’s get the hell out of here.”
you stare at him, disbelief gnawing at you. he’s...worried. maybe even scared.
for a moment, the world outside of you falls away, leaving just you and bakugou standing there in the wreckage.
but you don’t want to let him see how much his words affect you.
not now, not while you’re still trying to make sense of everything.
“don’t get all sentimental on me now, bakugou,” you mutter, a weak smile tugging at the corner of your lips as you try to brush off the intensity of the moment. “I’m fine. just need a second.”
but bakugou doesn’t seem convinced. he steps forward, his hand—hesitant but undeniably gentle—hovering near your side as though waiting for your permission to help.
you catch his eyes for a moment, and for the first time in a long while, you see something other than his usual cocky arrogance. something softer.
“don’t push yourself, alright?” he mutters, his voice quieter now, almost awkward. “I don’t want to drag your ass out of here next time.”
you swallow the lump in your throat and nod, trying to ignore the warmth spreading in your chest at his words.
for a few moments, everything seems suspended in time.
the world outside is still, the only sound the occasional rush of wind.
you can feel the intensity of his gaze lingering on you, his presence more solid than ever before.
it’s a strange feeling—this unspoken connection, the weight of his concern settling between you like an unvoiced understanding.
despite his usual tough exterior, there’s no mistaking the softness in his actions, the care that has been there all along, hidden beneath layers of pride and deflection.
and for the first time, you can’t ignore it.
the moment passes, though, and as quickly as it comes, you both fall into your familiar roles, quickly finishing up the mission.
the two of you barely speak on the way back, the silence stretching between you as you navigate the now-empty streets.
every once in a while, bakugou glances your way, but he never says anything.
as you both enter the safehouse, the cold interior air does little to ease the pounding headache building in your skull.
bakugou drops his gear by the door, his shoulders stiff with tension. he moves like he’s still on edge, as if the mission hasn’t quite ended for him.
you take a seat on the couch, trying to ignore the throb in your side as you start to peel off your tactical vest.
“you should get that looked at,” bakugou says, his voice still rough with exhaustion. “you’re lucky I didn’t leave your ass behind.”
you shoot him a pointed glare but don’t respond.
instead, you take a breath, looking down at the hand gripping the fabric of your vest before finally speaking, your voice quieter than usual.
“bakugou,” you start, the question from earlier swirling back in your mind. “why do you care so much?”
his back stiffens, and you can feel the tension in the room crackle like static. he turns to look at you, his expression unreadable for a moment.
then, his eyes soften—just barely—but enough to make your heart race in your chest.
“you think i’m gonna let some idiot hero get themselves killed?” his voice is harsher than it needs to be. “I don’t need to explain myself to you.”
but the words feel like a cover-up.
you see it in the way his hands ball into fists, the slight tremor in his jaw, like he’s trying to push something down.
you tilt your head, an eyebrow raising. “no, seriously. you’ve been acting like a goddamn wrecking ball this whole time, but that’s not really your style, is it?”
bakugou glares at you. “shut up, will you? I did what needed to be done. not everything’s about you.”
but you’re not ready to drop it. there’s a knot in your chest that won’t loosen, and you can feel the words slipping out of your mouth before you can stop them.
“don’t lie, bakugou. you’re acting weird. you’ve never cared this much before. what’s going on?”
there’s a long silence. you watch as bakugou’s eyes flick to the side, his lips pressed. finally, he lets out a breath, long and slow, and walks over to the window.
“I don’t have time for this, alright?” his voice is low. “I just—”
he pauses, like the words are stuck in his throat.
the long, drawn-out silence stretches between you like an unspoken confession. it’s raw, and despite every instinct telling you to back off, you don’t move.
“I just... I just don’t want to lose you, alright?” his voice cracks just slightly as he finally turns to face you, eyes burning with a mix of anger and hesitance.
“you make me—damn it, you make me lose my focus. every damn time, you just keep going and doing stupid shit, and it pisses me off. but I can’t—”
he shakes his head, his fists clenching again as his cheeks flush.
you blink, your heart skipping a beat at the words, unsure if you’ve heard him right. “what are you talking about?”
bakugou’s frustration is palpable, but it’s different now, tangled with something softer. he exhales sharply, as if the very act of saying it is painful.
“I don’t want you to die,” he says, eyes still locked on yours. “I don’t want to keep pulling your ass out of dangerous situations,
but every time, it just...it matters more than it should. and I don’t know why. I just—” and his voice drops into a groan.
your mind races, but all you can do is stare at him, trying to process everything he’s just said. is he...admitting something?
is he actually confessing to you?
you try to respond, your voice shaky but determined. “bakugou, I—”
before you can finish, he huffs, stepping back slightly.
“forget it. this isn’t—this wasn’t supposed to happen,” he mutters, visibly trying to shake off the moment. “I didn’t mean to...whatever. you should get some rest.”
“no,” you snap, your heart pounding as you take a step forward.
you’re not about to let him hide from this, not this time. “no, you’re not just going to walk away from this. not like this.”
his scowl deepens, but there’s something in his eyes he can’t quite mask. he crosses his arms, clearly uncomfortable, but his voice is still tight with frustration.
“what the hell do you want me to say, huh? it’s not like I can just...do this shit the ‘right’ way.”
you move even closer, your gaze unwavering, and something inside you surges, something you can’t hold back anymore.
“I don’t need you to do it the ‘right’ way, bakugou,” you say, your voice steady but intense. “I just need you to stop pretending this doesn’t matter.”
his lips part, like he’s about to snap back at you, but he falters, his eyes flickering with uncertainty.
“I don’t know how to...how to deal with this, alright? I don’t—” he clenches his fists at his sides, frustration evident on his face.
“you’re not the only one who feels this way, you know,” you cut in, your words sharper now, tinged with your own frustration and longing.
“you’re not the only one who’s...frustrated.” you swallow, your heart pounding in your chest, the words tumbling out in a rush.
“I care about you, too, bakugou. and I’m not going to sit here pretending like what happened didn’t matter.”
he freezes.
his eyes widen, and you see something—his lighting up just a bit.
“you—” he stops himself, jaw tightening. but his voice is unsteady when he speaks again. “you care? what—”
you nod, your heart in your throat, but now you’re certain. “yeah. I do. a hell of a lot more than I want to admit.”
he shifts on his feet, confusion warring with reluctant relief. “so what the hell do you want from me, huh?” he grumbles, his frustration still biting, but it’s calmer.
you take another step forward, closing the distance between you. “I want you to stop running away from this, bakugou. stop pretending it’s something you can ignore.”
his lips press together in a hard line, but for a brief moment, you think he might dismiss it again.
but then, after a long, measured breath, he looks up at you, and this time, there’s a small smile on his face.
“fine,” he mutters, gaze dropping to the floor, chuckling as he runs a hand through his hair. “I guess...I want to be with you too, alright?”
your heart skips a beat at the bluntness of it.
it catches you off guard, but you can’t help the smile spreading across your lips. “so, what, you’re saying you’re into me now, huh?”
bakugou flushes, the scowl returning to his face quickly and the blood rushing to his face as he quickly turns away, clearly embarrassed.
“shut up! don’t make me say it again.”
you laugh softly. “guess I’ll take that as a yes, then.”
bakugou sighs heavily, but then his eyes flick to you for a second. you stare back at him, an eyebrow raised in confusion.
he grabs your wrist and pulls you into his chest. your eyes widen as you collide against him, and you snap your head up, ready to yell at him.
but you halt as he cocks his head to the side and replies with a smirk, “damn right.”

Silent treatment?!
✦the reader getting upset over something and giving them the cold shoulder. happy ending so don't worry
✦characters: Idia Shroud, Leona Kingscholar
✦gn!reader
Tumblr media
Leona Kingscholar – “Tch. You’re so dramatic.”
He dismissed your opinion in front of others. It was small—a strategy for Magift practice—but he’d waved you off with that lazy smirk.
“Yeah, yeah, herbivore. Leave the thinking to the smart ones.”
You didn’t respond.
Didn’t touch him later when he stretched out on the lounge sofa. Didn’t banter with him like usual. Didn’t even smirk back.
And Leona hated it.
He found you under the shade of a tree in the Botanical Gardens later, hands folded and lips sealed.
He dropped beside you with a sigh. “I didn’t mean to make you feel small.” “I just get all barky around the others, I was just tired of those dumbasses. But I shouldn’t have snapped at you.”
You still didn’t speak.
He glanced away, ears flicking with discomfort.
“Look… you make me sharper. You challenge me. I like that. Hell, I need that. So next time I talk down to you…” He gently tugged your wrist. “…hit me. Or kiss me. Your choice.”
You rolled your eyes, but the corner of your mouth twitched.
“I’ll slug you first. Kiss you later.”
“That’s fair,” he said, lips curving in relief.
Tumblr media
Idia Shroud – “I’m being ghosted IRL, AND digitally???”
He forgot a promise. You’d asked him to go to the newly opened cat cafe with you, and he said yes. But when the time came… he got sucked into a boss raid and didn’t show.
You waited.
Then walked home alone.
And the next morning? You didn’t message him. Didn’t heart react to his memes. Didn’t even log into your shared game!
Idia panicked.
“They’re ignoring me… they’re GONE… I’ve been digitally divorced… my social link is broken!!!”
After several hours of existential crisis, he appeared at your door.
With a tablet.
On it? An 8-bit pixel art animation of you and him in matching outfits, with a big banner flashing:
“I’m sorry I stood you up. Will you give this loser another chance?”
You opened the door slowly, arms crossed.
He held up a peace offering: your favorite snack.
“I’m terrible with IRL time management,” he mumbled. “But I never stop thinking about you. Even in dungeons. Especially in dungeons.”
Your heart cracked.
You reached out and pulled him in by the sleeve.
“You’re lucky you’re cute in pixels and real life.” You leaned closer and pressed a soft kiss on his cheek
“Wait—was that a forgiveness kiss bonus combo?!”

You belong with me
Shauna Shipman x f!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: Shauna can't help noticing how close you and Jackie suddenly became after the plane crash..
Warnings: smut, top!shauna, switch!reader, sadistic pregnancyhormone driven Shauna (obvi), jealousy, biting, oral (reader receiving), slight overstimulation, humping, not proofread
Tumblr media
Shauna had just woken up after a cold emptyness had swept over her, turning to see that you were nowhere to be found in the spot you usually slept.
Getting up she went over to the window, her fingers curling around the dusty curtains, the sudden feeling of envy rising within her as she gazed over at you and Jackie.
Well, now she knew where you were at least.
-
It was normal for you and Jackie to spend time and do chores together after the crash that had stranded you all in the wilderness. You wouldn't exactly say that you were close before everything happened - at most having a few not so deep conversations at practice or a party. But very shortly after the crash when (almost) everyone had decided that it was a good idea to abandon the plane and head to the lake, Jackie had suddenly come up to you out of nowhere and started a conversation by the water (which obviously didn't go unnoticed by Shauna as she openly stared in your direction while you spoke).
-
"What are you guys doing?" Shauna's demanding voice sounded through your silent giggles as you and Jackie sat next to eachother.
"Washing laundry.. What does it look like?" You smiled teasingly in response, raising an eyebrow at the dumb question before putting the top back into the water filled bucket in front of you and gesturing for Shauna to sit down.
She did just that. But not without glaring harshly at her best friend first and purposely kicking her foot out a little too hard, "accidentally" hitting her in the process as she slumped down on the log beneath her.
"Ow Shauna, what the hell was that for?!" Jackie quickly exclaimed in annoyance while she instinctively reached for her ankle.
"Whoops" she shrugged in response, not even caring to hide the gleam of satisfactionin her eyes. "I slipped."
-
Situations like these just kept happening after that, where you and Jackie would be hanging out - maybe a little away from the rest of the group when Shauna would suddenly appear and "subtly" insert herself into the situation. But a couple of months had gone by when Shauna decided it was enough.
What exactly was it that Jackie had that she didn't? She could care for you much better - please you so much better than Jackie could even imagine.
It wasn't like you and Shauna didn't speak at all, you had actually been pretty good friends even before the crash, there were even late nights where she would still press herself up against your back for "warmth".
Which made the switch of attention to Jackie so much worse.
-
"Y/n" Shauna's voice whispered into your ear.
Stirring awake you turned over to face the wide awake girl next to you. "Is something wrong?" You managed to rasp out, rubbing your eyes tiredly as Shauna's face finally came clearly into view.
"No, I was just wondering if you wanted to come with me to the lake for a - yk, early swim?" She responded, unable to hide her little smirk while watching your cute expressions as you tried to get yourself to wake up.
"Um.. yeah sure, want me to wake Jackie and the others?" You blinked groggily over at her, finally sitting up and pulling your blanket off.
"No." Shauna said harshly, not hiding the disdain in her voice quickly enough as she curled her lip slightly. Why did everything always have to be about the perfect fucking princess Jackie. Well it wouldn't be this time, no, this time you would be Shauna's. Just Shauna's.
"Well - ok sure that sounds fun, just let me get dressed" you responded, taking a double take to look at the expression you could only think to describe as loathing on Shauna's face before standing up.
"I'll wait for you outside, don't want to wake the others" Shauna said and sighed in relief, finally smiling properly at you and blushing slightly. Because even though she was the one who rejected the thought of going with the others, she still liked how willing you were to spend time with her.
-
"So.. You've been hanging around Jackie a lot lately, haven't you" Shauna broke the silence on the way down to the lake, the sentence coming out more as a statement than a question.
You looked over at her as she spoke, noticing the lack of eye contact, the brunette just continuing to look straightforward as she walked.
"Yeah! After the crash we kinda just figured out that we have a lot more in common that we thought - would you believe me if I said we literally bonded over how much we love mint ice cream" you giggled and recalled the memory before furrowing your brows. "I hope that's not a problem- I mean, since you're best friends and all. I don't want you to think that I'm like trying to steal her away from you or anything"
Well it was a problem, but not for that reason.
You were down by the beach before Shauna could think of a reply that didn't sound like she wanted to rip Jackie's skin off. And you decided that maybe it was just too much of a sensitive topic and didn't push her further into answering.
Quickly getting undressed down to your underwear you ran into the water as if to shock the water before it could shock you with its icy feel. "Come on slowpoke! You were the one who invited me down here" you giggled as Shauna stepped out of her shorts and walked out into the water, grimacing as she slightly regretted this as the way of getting you alone.
"Jeez, it's fucking freezing.. I guess fall is coming up" She murmured to herself as she finally dipped into the water and swimming over to where you were - already laying on your back with your eyes closed.
You opened your eyes when you felt Shauna swim up beside you and followed to meet her. "This was nice Shauna, I feel like we haven't hung out in forever" you smiled over at her shyly, trying not to peak down at the lacy bra she had decided to use as swimwear.
Shauna however was not being so subtle as her hungry eyes skimmed over your sun kissed body - wishing she could see what was under the hindering clothing pieces.
But oblivious as always you didn't think much of the staring. "So.. Why is it that you invited me out here?"
The doweyed girl licked her lips as she thought of something to say. "I just wanted to spend time with you" she answered and her eyes softened slightly, thinking of how she had been acting kinda short tempered with you before this. It wasn't your fault that Jackie had stolen you away from her, but her hormones which were now at full dial made her act in unpredictable ways.
You only grinned back, caught offguard by the response before splashing water at her. "When did the Shauna Shipman become so corny, you could have just asked me to hang out instead of waking me at the crack of dawn" you laughed.
Smirking she quickly got over the cold water dripping down her face before doing the same to you. "Shut up."
You continued to splash eachother back and forth for a while before heading back up onto shore to get dressed.
Just as you were about to ask Shauna to turn so you could put on some dry underwear her hand suddenly caught around your wrist. "What's that." She demanded, her hand tightening every millisecond you didn't answer.
You looked down into your hand, not understanding the sudden reaction. "It's Jackie's necklace, she gave it to me"
That was when something snapped inside Shauna.
"Why do you have that." Her grip never letting loose.
"She gave it to me a few days ago, said it meant a lot to her." You tried pulling away to no avail, Shauna's gaze continuing to darken.
"She doesn't fucking deserve you." She spat before she could stop herself.
"What?" You asked in almost a whisper, starting to get nervous from the sudden change of attitude. "What do you mean "she doesn't deserve me"?"
"It means that she could never be good enough for you. You belong with me."
You halted your movements out of pure shock, now more confused than ever. Shauna had never explicitly shown interest in you - except maybe for the downright exposing glances, the small gestures and gifts, that one slumberparty you had promised eachother not to bring up again...
Before you could say anything Shauna suddenly pushed you, not rough but hard enough to make you stumble backwards and fall onto your pile of clothes.
"You belong with me." She repeated, her eyes almost wild as she crouched over you, enjoying the slightly scared look on your face.
That's when she kissed you, your noses bumping painfully at the urgency of it all. You didn't know what to do at first, feeling Shauna's weight push you down onto the protective layer of your clothing as she pressed forward.
It didn't take long for you to respond however, and it quickly became a losing battle for the upper hand, Shauna easily winning as she pinched your arm painfully, making you open your mouth with a whimper which she quickly silenced when she pushed her tongue into your mouth. When you finally managed to shove her slightly to get air, a string of saliva kept your red lips connected. Shauna only looking down at you proudly before licking her bottom lip, breaking the bond of your mixed spit that came between you.
She let you breathe for just a second before leaning back down, roughly grabbing the back of your hair in the process and making you hiss. Her other hand continued to trail downwards over your stomach, stopping only to grope one of your tits before heading down to her final destination where she knew you needed her the most. As her fingers lifted the corner of your already wet underwear (now even wetter) she smirked against your bruised lips when her fingers brushed over your clit, the sensation making you buck your hips up slightly.
"Mmm do you think you deserve this?" Shauna asked breathlessly against your neck, groaning when she felt the warm wetness seeping out of your opening.
"Yes - yes, please Shauna just touch me" you pleaded before yelping. Shauna had just bit you - hard. But the feeling of her rubbing your clit deliciously distracted from the pain as you quickly felt her lick and soothe the red bleeding mark.
"Beg, I want you to tell me I'm the only one who can touch you like this, not Jackie - not anyone else." She snarled and bit down again, not noticing that her hips had started moving against your thigh in a chase for her own release.
"Please, please, p-please Shauna. Nobody could ever make me feel as good as you do, nobody." You were almost at the verge of tears, the frustration making the build up all the more intense as you waited for her to give in.
That seemed to do it for her as her hips stuttered against you and she whimpered. The idea that you were only hers to please was enough motivation for Shauna to cease rubbing your clit lazily and finally plunge two fingers inside of you.
"O-oh fuck Shauna" you moaned out, dragging your nails down her bare back as she used her other hand to lift up your top so she could get a proper view of your full beauty.
"Shit" was all she mustered as she looked down at you, her fingers never slowing their aggressive pace. Your fucked out look was better than Shauna had ever dreamt of, she was truly never going to let you go after this. You were making her go absolutely fucking crazy.
She leaned back down and this time licked down the curve of your collarbone before biting roughly once again. Jackie had to see that this - you were the one thing she couldn't steal from her. She breathed in, taking in your scent in an almost primal matter before kissing you once again.
"Cum, fuck - I know you want to." She mumbled against you. Her thumb reaching up to finally stimulate your clit all while her pointer and middle finger continued at a relentless speed.
That was just what you needed. The feeling of her pressing harder against you and the plead for you to cum was what drove you over the edge as you gushed all over Shauna's hand, spasming slightly and trying to push her away when she didn't slow down.
"Shauna - Shauna stop it's too much" you tried moving away from her again and she continued for just a second before letting up, lifting her hand in front of her face to study the slick covering her finger.
"Clean it up" She demanded and pushed her fingers against your mouth until you opened up, before closing it again once her fingers laid on your tongue. You whimpered against her when you tasted the bittersweet slick that came from your release, feeling helpless and blissed out as her knee accidentally brushed against your already sensitive clit.
Her eyes were burning into your akin the whole time as she watched you lick between her fingers to get every last drop off of her.
"I'm not done yet" She smirked and didn't waste any time before crawling down your body till she reached your still covered pussy, blowing cold air onto the area to get a reaction. The only thing you could do in response was clench around nothing in anticipation, not knowing if you could even handle another orgasm that quick.
Shauna proceeded to peel the wet undergarment off and took a moment just to look at what was in front of her. Oh she was going to have so much fun.
Her mouth quickly engulfed your throbbing clit, not able to stall any longer as she needed to feel you squirm against her tongue. "You taste so fucking good" she groaned, spreading your thighs open further when your legs threatened to close around her.
It was almost too much, the feeling of her tongue thrusting in and out of your sore hole making you reach for anything to hold onto - the closest thing being her hair. But the slightly maniacal girl beneath you had no problem with the painful tug, the feeling rather making her hips buckle desperately against the ground beneath her, looking for any sort of relief.
Only a couple of minutes went by before you felt another orgasm about to sweep over you, making you grind against Shauna's pleased face even harder. "I'm gonna cum - oh my god" you were basically riding her at this point - not that Shauna minded in the slightest.
"Go on y/n, cum for me" Shauna gasped against you, feeling herself also nearing the edge after the unbearable minutes of humping the ground beneath her.
You couldn't hold off a second longer and gave one final thrust against her tired tongue before cumming harshly. "Oh god Shauna you feel so good!" You moaned loudly just as Shauna came too, her release being known when she whimpered against your already sensitive abused hole causing it to spasm.
It took a little while before either of you spoke up again, just laying beside eachother in silence catching your breath. "Fuck, what am I supposed to do with these bruises? It literally looks like I got mauled by a bear" you finally questioned, shyly brushing your hand over the already purplish marks that were covering your neck down to your breasts.
Shauna just shrugged and turned over to you, leaning on an elbow as her eyes gazed over your body "Show them. Maybe it'll be enough for Jackie to back off" She decided, smirking proudly to herself.
"Shauna you bitch" you laughed in disbelief before pushing her playfully down again and straddling her lap.
"My turn."

Unfamiliar Nobody
You are a witch preparing for winter. Luckily, you have an extra set of hands - if they'd ever help.

You haven’t been the same since the ritual.
Souls are tricky things, somewhere on that rickety fence between the Seen and Unseen, a bit of practical magic so common that people don’t think much of it.
Souls are like stones or plants. Abundant, but varied. Some are rare and precious, some are beautiful, some are poison. One soul does not weigh the same as another, and the beings that deal in their collection and sale value them differently. Souls aren’t rare and only some of them are powerful.
It’s a narcissistic misconception of humans - even the ones that can perceive beyond the physical world. That a soul is considered precious and coveted and powerful by all things of heaven, hell, and beyond.
Not so.
That said, like a bit of gold or a well-woven blanket, a soul can be commodified. Reshaped and displayed, butchered for parts, sold…
The selling of a soul has its merits, though not many. High risk, high reward sort of gamble. Tempting for clever witches - or desperate ones.
You were neither when you built the summoning circle that night.
You weren’t looking to forge any contracts or make deals beneath that moon. Didn’t expect to invoke any infernal beings or heavenly apparitions with the stars.
Well, best laid plans and all that - not that it had been an especially well laid plan anyway.
Baring your soul that deep into midnight had not yielded the results you intended. Or maybe it had and your expectations were just skewed. Souls are tricky things.
And yours hasn’t been the same since.
You always rouse as the sun begins to set. Late afternoon at the earliest, when most everyone else is finishing their suppers.
You can manage stark daylight, but poorly. It hurts your eyes and prickles your skin. A deep hood and long sleeves does the trick when required, but you don’t make a habit of it if you can help it, if only for the teeth that bury in your throat when you return.
Tend the garden in the dying rays, light the shop candles before night nestles in. Say your blessings, leave your offerings, wriggle out from beneath clingy weight to secure any provisions or materials from the town.
As the temperature cools and the shadows deepen, you settle into your work.
The shop once belonged to an apothecarist. Died in a plague some four decades ago, or so you’ve been told. No one of any skill or natural talent replaced them afterwards. Too frightened, perhaps, of what could be lingering within.
It wasn’t haunted until you (and your shadow) occupied it.
You’ve stocked it up quite nicely now. Herbs and spices, vegetables and fruits, roots and seeds. Thistles hang from the ceiling and bones rattle in the drawers. Mortars and pestles line a wall, weights and measures beneath the counter. Not a single thing labeled or organized, the latter of which disconcerts your… companion.
Fickle is not the word for him, but it’s the one you use.
(And he is a he, at least according to the long, thick cock he crams into you every chance he makes for himself. Though you suppose such trifles as gender are superfluous to nonhumans. A categorical fallacy for your own ease of reference.)
You told him once, that if he did not like the disarray of the shop, he was welcome to rearrange as he saw fit. In response, he left teeth rings around the base of each of your fingers, telling you how easy it would be to bite them off. He didn’t, of course - wouldn’t - but you spent a good portion of that evening updating the inventory logs (sat on that long, thick cock.)
The shop was never reorganized.
Tonight you wake to his tongue, a dark and wicked thing, improbably dexterous, lapping at your thighs.
“Winter comes,” he drawls into your skin. His voice is dredged up from the deepest pit in his chest, scrapes against his throat before nuzzling into your ears.
“I thought so,” you sigh, sleep laden and languorous. “Felt it on the wind yesterday.”
He hums. Or maybe it’s a growl. It’s hard to say when he’s sinking his teeth into the plush of your thigh, though he does it without hurry.
For a creature without definite expiration, there is little need to be hasty.
You click your tongue when he threatens to break skin. His jaw locks like that, just on the verge of taking without being asked. This is his price for greeting the evening with you - or so he claims.
“We’ll have to begin preparations,” you muse to the inky ceiling. “I’ll make a list over tea. You’ll help, won’t you? What kind of winter will it be?”
He relaxes his bite, laps at the iridescent fluid left on your skin. His saliva, or what passes for it in this vaguely human form.
“Long,” he drawls. An unseen thumb rubs circles into your calf. “And frigid.”
You hum, can already see it in your mind. Howling winds and a silent earth. Still and peaceful, little creatures huddled down and hibernating. It was a good, warm, lush summer that promises a sweet, abundant harvest.
“A lot of snow?” you ask, fingers buried in something almost too coarse to be hair.
He unseals his mouth from a fresh, livid mark on your hip. “Da. Snow.”
Your fingertips trail over the gnarled, raised topography of long-healed wounds. Marks that go beyond flesh, wounds of essence. No matter his appearance, he will always be scarred - disfigured, even.
Sometimes you fancy that he was some fearsome fae king or warlord of hell before retiring to become yours.
Sensing the direction of your thoughts, he nips at the meat of your thumb. Draws blood the time. You hook your index finger around a too-sharp canine and shake a bit. He grunts and slides his tongue over the pinprick of blood.
“Any storms?” you ask.
“Two,” he rumbles around your finger. “Maybe three.”
You didn’t used to love winter so. But this will be your third with him. As the climate chills and the nights lengthen, he comes into his patron season. It’s helpful to have a thing of the cold and dark when times are lean and everything (even people) lose their pretty foliage.
“Shall I expect more pelts, then?”
You balked the first time he brought (more) death to your door. Thought him cruel and ruthless. Perhaps he is without you to metamorphose the slaughter into necessity.
Furs for warmth, meat for food, bones for your work. Nothing gone to waste under your care.
“Pelts,” he agrees, “skins, down.”
You trace your thumb over the bridge of his crooked nose, press between his brows when he tries to tilt his head into the warm apex of your thighs. He bares his teeth against your wrist but cannot defy you.
“Tea for that drop of blood,” you bargain.
He sighs deep and vexed. “Mistress.”
Before slithering from your blankets, though, he buries his nose against your pubic mound and takes a deep, noisy inhale.
“Nikto!”
A village girl comes a little after the sun has fully set.
You finished your tea (and bread, for the price of a wet, filthy kiss) while making a list of preparatory chores. Have started grinding up rosemary to replenish your stock.
Nikto senses her before you do, pthalo eyes flicking up. She hesitates at the closed door, poised to knock, then decides against it and simply pushes in.
You pretend as if you’ve just glanced up from your mortar, an easy smile at your visitor.
“Good evening,” you call.
“E-evening,” she replies, lingering in the door.
While you’ve taken measures to keep the air of the shopfront clean and light, it’s something of a fruitless endeavor when Nikto’s made his den here. (Or more accurately, in the room behind the shopfront, where you dwell.)
Still, she only wavers another moment, finding nothing immediately alarming or perilous. She can’t see him lounging on the back counter like a lazy cat.
“Have you need of something?” you ask.
Your easy, friendly tone loosens her shoulders, coaxes her from the doorway.
“I’m here for something for my grandmother?” she says.
You tilt your head. “Anna?”
She blinks. “How did you know?”
Because Nikto grumbled it just now.
“You have her eyes,” you lie. “I have her medication just over here. One moment.”
You turn away to collect the little parcels that make up Anna’s bi-weekly order. Brews for her tea, ointment for her joints. You’ll mix extra as the chill sets in, fewer trips while seeing her through the harsh season.
“Usually Alexei comes to collect these things,” you say.
She rocks back and forth on her heels, a more curious eye trailing over your wares now.
“Mama and I have come to take care of nana. She’s getting older, you know. And this town has better prospects than our old village.”
You hum in agreement, neatly bundling all the items in a cloth and tieing a length of twine to secure it.
“Uncle Alexei is away with papa to finish sorting matters back there.”
“So you and your mother have come ahead, then,” you summarize.
“Mhmm!”
“Well, Anna is lucky to have you. She speaks fondly of you and your mother,” you say.
The girl lights up, cheeks rosy with pride. You slide her grandmother’s order across the counter.
“Anything else?” you ask.
“No, thank you!” she replies, dropping coins into your palm.
You glance at them (overpaid as usual, oh Anna) and sigh fondly.
“Hold on,” you call, “here.”
You pass her a little jar sealed in wax. She accepts it with a bemused smile.
“What is it?”
“For travel sores, when your father and Alexei return.”
She absolutely beams. Any apprehension she had when entering your shop is long melted away.
“Thank you, Miss!” she chirps, waving, and sweeps out the door.
Niko pounces in an instant, arms so tight around your waist that you don’t even stumble from the force.
“What’s gotten into you this time?” you ask.
“You were thinking of those men,” he grumbles. You’d call it childish if he wasn’t damn near mauling your neck.
“They’re well-paying customers,” you scoff, “and more good will is never remiss.”
He snarls, but moves on quickly. “You were so kind to that little girl. She had stars in her eyes.”
You hum in question, surprised.
“Makes me think of you with little ones. Younger ones.” He’s near rambling, drool soaking into the collar of your dress. “My brood. Clinging to your skirts and your hips. Getting sticky hands in the beeswax.”
You huff out a startled laugh. “You’re thinking of babies?”
He moans into your ear, pressed tight to your back. Broad palms knead at your lower abdomen.
“Little voices calling ‘mama’. They would all adore you, want to be just like you. Mother is god in the hearts of children.”
“All?” you repeat, twisting to stare owlishly. “How many is ‘all’?”
“As many as you will let me breed into you.”
Another laugh escapes you, a bit bewildered. He’s never spoken like this before, never seemed interested at all by the women (or their husbands) that come to the shop to ease their pregnancies or births.
“You couldn’t stand to share my attention,” you scoff. Which is to say nothing of it even being a possibility. You’re not sure that you and he could produce viable offspring.
He pauses, nose in your hair, considering.
Finally, he grunts, “Maybe.”
You’d thought so.
It’s not just the change in your natural sleep rhythms. You crave the iron of raw meat and inhale deep the burn of black smoke. Sometimes, you’re too preoccupied with the spill of ink on parchment, or the length and depth of shadows.
Subtle things, perhaps. A change beneath the skin, in the dark parts of your eyes.
You used to ask your questions in the sun, and look for the answers in the bloom of flowers or swirls of clouds. Now you whisper into abyssal shadows and they whisper back with a man’s rasp.
Not everyone can see it, the unusual glint in your eyes or the sharp edge to your smile. For those that do, it’s something of an open secret - that you provide more than helpful tonic and tinctures for common ailments.
A serum against pregnancy. A syrup for unkind spouses. Cut cords for bad friends and bent coins for poor business partners.
Tonight it’s the smith’s daughter. She’s just come into adulthood this past spring. A crown of youth on her brow, vitality draped around her shoulders. Darkened, this eve, by deals made with her as the currency. You see it beneath the sweep of her skirt, a chain of her father’s own making, a key in the hand of the mayor’s son. It drags her step in your doorway, rattling along the wood floors.
“Irina,” you greet.
She doesn’t admit it right away, demuring to purchase her father’s usual burn salve. You don’t pry, instead taking your time to spoon the thick, cloudy mixture into a small jar.
“You’ve…”
You tilt your head to show your attention, expression open. She clears her throat, smooths her skirt, tries again.
“My father designs to wed me to Boris.”
She blurts it like the words escaped between the gaps in her teeth, looks shocked in their wake You flick Nikto a reproachful glance.
“Is that so?” you reply mildly, as neutral as you can manage.
“I don’t want to,” she whispers, as though it is a shameful secret. But there is little shame to be found in your presence, and when your expression only reflects polite interest, she repeats herself, stronger. “I don’t want to. Boris is a coward and his father is…”
Mean. Lascivious. A bastard with a heavy hand and wine for blood, kind only to coin.
You don’t make her say it all aloud, you’ve heard it just fine.
“Is it an ear you’re after?” you ask. “I’ll listen.”
You do not offer more. It is something she must request of her own will. For your sake as much as hers.
It only takes another breath for her to gather the courage.
“Would you help me?”
“I would.”
You don’t jump as Nikto pours himself over your shoulders, teeth already scraping the nape of your neck. He’s hard and insistent against your spine, where scars of his teeth have begun to blossom. You sense that you’ll have a new notch for the collection soon, already feel slick and achy with the promise of his maw.
“What will it cost?” Irina asks, fidgety.
Your cunt three times over. Your blood on my tongue. Your juices down my throat.
“That will depend on our solution,” you say over Nikto’s sibilant entreaties.
Irina’s brow furrows. “Not coin?”
“Maybe coin,” you correct. “Do you want any of these three men dead?”
She startles, pales. Nikto groans in your ear, hips jerking hard, cock catching on the laces of your corset. Irina mistakes the sound for your shop settling, eyes flicking nervously around as if either of you will be caught.
“N-no!” she answers. “No, that’s too - I just want papa to change his mind. O-or for Boris to… to wed someone else. Is that wicked of me?”
You shake your head, soften your smile to ease her conscience. Once upon a time, you stood on the other side of the counter like she is now.
“Then coin won’t be necessary. I have a different price.”
Her shoulders lower, just a bit, curiosity where she should be wary. Coin is a paltry payment in comparison to things a creature like you could request instead.
“What is it?”
“Scrap from your father’s forge, as much as you can manage, and whatever Boris gave you for your hand. Bring them to me tomorrow night.”
You fish a shirt button from beneath the counter. Prick your thumb on a needle and press the droplet of blood that wells into the smooth surface.
“This is a contract of my services,” you explain as it dries in the open air. Nikto inhales deep and ravenous, tongue flicking over the shell of your ear.
“If you take this, there is no going back. Do you understand?”
Irina hesitates; she’s always been a smart girl. That’s why she knew to come to you.
“What happens if I don’t come back with the payment?”
You flick a glance at Nikto, but he’s too busy toying with the ribbon around your throat. Patience fraying with each beat of your heart.
“Even I don’t know, but I’d rather neither of us find out, yes?”
“Alright. I understand.”
She accepts the bloodied button and drops it into the pocket of her frock.
“Tomorrow,” she promises, and steals out into the night.
Nikto bends you over the counter, heavy body flattening you to the polished wood. It’s unnaturally warm beneath your cheek. You suck in as much air as you can while he paws at the hidden parts in your skirts. He growls to find you wet and willing (always, regardless of what your mouth says) between your thighs.
“Tithe,” he rasps, sinking to his knees.
Massive arms snake around your thighs as he finds his home between them. Buries his nose in the soft crop of curls so that his tongue and lips and teeth can partake in the sweet offerings below.
“All this for a severed tether?” you gasp, hips twitching in a bid to escape the too much, too fast, too good of it all.
His grip does not relent. On the contrary, it only tightens, dragging you down to smother himself in your cunt.
“Yes,” he hisses.
He takes and takes and takes. Sucks your clit until it’s throbbing at the slightest touch. Licks at the rim of your cunt, forcing his tongue deeper and deeper. Impossibly deep, until you feel the tip of it curl against the hard wall of your cervix, the root of it as thick as two of his fingers.
Your knees have long given out, your voice but a weak trill in your throat. It’s only when he hears you sniffling that he wrenches himself away.
“Give me,” he demands, surging up.
Laves that slick, black, inhuman tongue up your jaw, over your cheek. Doubles back to swipe at half-dried tears that dripped down your neck and onto your hands. He makes an obscene sound when the salt mixes with the dried blood on the pad of your thumb.
“I want to eat you,” he snarls, baring his teeth against the tender veins of your wrist.
“Maybe one day,” you pant, “when I’ve passed on. You can have my corpse.”
His eyes snap open, a manic rage burning so hot it feels cold.
“Never,” he snarls, cruel fingers plunging into your tender cunt.
You cry out and grip onto his shoulders, fresh tears sliding down your hot cheeks. There is no mercy in Nikto, not even for you. He strokes and pets your walls relentlessly, abusing all the sensitive places he’s long mapped out. Brutal as the muscles in his arm bunch and jump with the pace and force of it.
“Never,” he repeats. Teeth in your throat but you can still hear his voice. It’s so loud and rough that glass rattles. “Just like this. You stay just like this for me. Mine, all mine. Always. My little witch.”
He makes you cum on his fingers, then jerks his angry cock using your release to ease the way. Spends himself in burning, sticky ropes directly onto your clit. As you drag in ragged breaths, he draws his sigil inside your cunt with your mixed fluids.
The bond has long been formed, there is no need to renew it. Your soul is no more or less his than before. You still shiver with the memory, an echo of the sublime sensation of your soul taking new shape. Making room for something else to lace through it.
“S-someone is coming,” you whimper, weak in every sense.
“Dmitiri,” Nikto answers. You knew who it was, of course, but you don’t think he would abide you saying any other name right now.
“Leave his order on the counter and make sure he pays,” you sigh, limping away in search of water.
Nikto may be a bastard, but he manages to follow your orders most of the time.
Irina returns the next evening with all that you asked. A bucket of metal scraps and shavings. In a little velvet pouch, a simple gold engagement ring.
“The button too,” you request.
Nikto, raven-shaped this evening, swoops in to snatch it from her fingers. She yelps, moon-eyed as he perches on a tall shelf and swallows the button down his scarred gullet.
“Should… should it eat that?” she asks.
You don’t even glance at him. “Too late now, isn’t it?”
She doesn’t look amused so you laugh softly and assure her, “He’ll be alright. He’s done it before.”
You turn away, scooping up the items for the spell.
“Now then, take this pin. Carve your name into one candle, and Boris’s name into the other,” you instruct.
“Which one is which?” she asks, a green candle in one hand.
“Your choice,” you reply simply.
When she’s done as you ask, you tie a piece of twine between the two, about halfway down. Set them on a metal plate facing each other and light first Irina’s, then Boris’s.
“Pull up that stool. Watch the candles burn down to the wick.”
It takes nearly an hour. You keep half an eye on it. Watch the candle meant to represent Boris start to eat at the twine, a slow encroachment towards the midpoint. Only for Irina’s flame to latch onto its end of the tie and scorch through the knot, the remaining length falling away.
Irina gasps softly, glances up to find you already watching. Studiously turns back to observe the remainder of the melt.
In the meantime, you continue forming the other half of your spell. Irina has been too preoccupied to notice the raven’s disappearance. Nikto is behind you again, guiding your hands to carve the woodblock in neat little peels. His fingers are threaded between yours, dripping raw power that you shape with intent. If Irina were to look, it would just seem that the candlelight casts strange shadows down your forearms.
When the candles have burned down to nothing, and Irina turns to you expectantly, you press a finger to your lips.
“Do not speak again until sunrise. When you get home, throw this into the hearth, as deep as you can get it. No trace of it will remain, rest assured.”
You press the carved wooden key into her palm. Her eyes trace the unfamiliar runes in wonder, but she keeps her silence and takes her leave with one final, grateful nod.
It is only just past midnight, but you yawn. The connection between Irina and Boris was not a strong one, but severing the covetous teeth of the mayor’s greed was tedious.
He has a weakness for fair hair and light eyes - both qualities passed down to Irina in lovely spades. Qualities his own wife doesn’t possess, but he would gladly see in his son’s if he had his way.
“Nikto.”
“All for a severed tether,” he purrs.
You tsk at him, shove his face away when he tries to steal a kiss.
“Finish the spell and then you will be rewarded,” you huff, waving him off. “Useless thing.”
He moans softly, eyes burning into you. “Useless,” he agrees, sharp teeth grazing your cheek. “Worthless.”
“Out with you. We’ve not all night,” you chastise.
He sinks slowly into the shadows; his eyes are the last to disappear.
Winter preparations are well under way.
A small mountain of firewood is steadily accumulating in the backyard, stacking higher and wider by the day. You’ve already finished harvesting the last of the garden, drying, preserving, and pickling by the jar. Have knitted half a dozen more shawls and socks with thick wool yarn.
Cough medicines, warming tinctures, lotions and ointments. You’re accumulating your winter remedies along the back wall and in crates beneath the counter, well-stocked for the town and smaller surrounding villages that frequent your shop.
Thus far, Nikto has brought you two pelts, and promised two more before the season truly sets in. A new pillow has also been added to your nest bed, a puffy, heavy thing of feathered down and cotton.
You like it so much that you bounce on Nikto’s cock until morning when he brings it to you, spitting into his mouth whenever he opens it in supplication. You drop lavender buds into the casing and breathe it deep as he lays you down after daybreak. It makes an excellent throne for your pelvis when you’re too worn (or over-pleasured) to hold yourself up any longer.
Still, as promising as your preparations are, you need items unavailable even in town. The journey to the nearest city is one day's (or night’s) walk there, and another back. Well worth the trouble.
Nikto has no particular affection for any dwelling, so long as it’s yours. He’s just as eager to travel as you are.
Before nightfall, you drop off any orders expected in your absence, and receive well wishes from your customers. No one asks why you are traveling alone at night. No one warns you that it would be too dangerous.
Nikto accompanies you along the well-trod road, a hooded figure more likely to be mistaken for the grim reaper than your familiar. He’s human enough if you don’t look at him for too long. A tall man thick with muscle, broad-shouldered, built for labor. Likely malformed beneath the scarf hiding his features below those blue eyes - or perhaps just shy.
Just don’t try to peer into the depths of that hood, or ponder that mysterious scarf for too long. The moon acts as a strange prism, waters down the light into eerie refractions. One might start to imagine sharp teeth peeking through ripped lips. Or glimpse poorly sewn hills of flesh, nothing but dark, empty space between the seams.
Luckily, there are no travelers on the road this late into the night. Any errant gaze is that of night creatures, and those know well to avoid the shadow at your side - and you by extension.
The trip into the city is no great adventure, but you weren’t looking for one. Nikto, you sense, is something almost like disappointed. You arrive in the small hours of the morning, just as the earliest risers have begun their day.
The innkeeper seems surprised by such an early (or late) guest, but is happy enough to welcome you in. Bread has yet to be bought from the baker, but there’s stew that’s been simmering overnight. It’s warm and hearty and thick. You eat two bowls with a cup of peach wine, pay for food and board for the next two days, and retire to the second story of rooms.
The bed is not nearly as comfortable as yours. The blankets are thin and woven, though they are layered enough to be warm. The mattress and pillow are both straw - comfortable by most standards, but a poor substitute for your cotton and wool and furs and down.
You make due on Nikto’s rumbling chest (prideful that you miss what he has so diligently provided) and let yourself drift into slumber.
At midday, you wake. City merchants aren’t accustomed to your odd hours, and you don’t want anything to be out of stock - you’re not the only one that’s made the journey for winter.
Luckily, it’s an overcast day and the sun isn’t too obnoxious when you venture out. You get a sweet bun from the bakery to tide your hunger while you shop. Follow Nikto’s whispering for directions, or to pick the best items of any selection. Spoil yourself a bit on honey from abroad and a new grimoire.
Return to the inn at the brightest part of the day for a nap. Rouse again in the late afternoon for more exploring and shopping, as well as a drink at one of the alehouses.
You’ve no friends in the city - or anywhere, really, for that matter. But being surrounded by good spirits and bright noise provides an unusual source of energy. There’s a band to watch and strong drink, some gambling that you amuse yourself meddling in from afar.
There are eyes on you, but there always are in such a busy place. You tend to attract very few gazes, but the ones you do will return time and time again, musing at the lone figure by the wall. None are brave enough to approach - especially not when it grows dark enough for Nikto to reveal himself.
Even he is in unusual form, telling you stories of a bygone time. A time when perhaps he was more finite than he is now. He uses names you’ve heard before, in passing, and chuckles at exploits more mortal than he deigns to participate in now. You like to hear it, like to provide him with the excess buzzing in your veins.
When the crowd begins to thin, you take your leave. He stays at your side (always too close, nearly underfoot) all the way to the inn, and is waiting in your room when you come up with the meal. He manhandles you into his lap and feeds you with his fingers, pours water into your mouth from his.
You stave him off until your food settles, and then he’s taking you into his lap. Has you twice before you doze off. Wakes you three hours later with his tongue lapping at your swollen folds. Has you twice more before you settle in properly until dawn.
The second day passes in much the same fashion as the first. Your indulgence this time is a pretty, slender knife, a length of ribbon, and a simple burgundy frock. The combination has Nikto salivating by the time you return to your room to rest. Not that there’s much to be had with you splayed out over your new garment, his hands and mouth and cock working you over until a puddle of slick and cum forms beneath your writhing bodies.
You send him to wash the stains in annoyance, and it’s returned seemingly pristine - though he gloats that the scent of your coupling remains. At least to him.
Nasty creature.
“If I get tired, you will be carrying me,” you huff on the road home.
He nuzzles his nose into your temple, a silent assurance that you need only say the word.
Halfway there, a band of highwaymen makes the fatal mistake of trying to ambush the two of you. Aware that anyone coming from the city will be laden with coins or goods, they would be correct if you were anyone else.
You click your tongue, steps never faltering.
“Kill anyone that’s taken an innocent,” you call over your shoulder.
“Mistress,” Nikto churrs into the air, breath so cold it sinks in the chilly air.
An unnatural growl reverberates off the trees. You don’t spare a glance behind you, steps easy and light, crunching over dead leaves and dry twigs.
A hand lands on your shoulder - heavy… and then not. Heat splatters and soaks into your sleeve, dripping down towards your wrist. The severed arm falls with a wet, fleshy thump.
Always so messy.
You tilt your head, veer off the road and follow your intuition until you find a stream. Humming, you shed your clothes and saunter into the gentle current. It’s frigid, only just unfrozen. You sigh, minding your step for slippery rocks as you wade deeper. The water rises past your scratched calves, over bitten thighs, soothes your well-used cunt and the bruises on your hips. Tingles over the silvery flesh of your scarred back until it’s nearly to your breasts.
Only then does the water darken around you.
Nikto’s hand closes around your wrist, draws your arm back until he can lick away the smears of a stranger’s blood.
Feast before the season’s famine.
You moan softly at the drag of his serpentine tongue along your skin. The ball of your shoulder, the curve of your tricep and bicep. Tickling the bend of your elbow… up your forearm… and wrist. Twisting between each digit. You lean into the sturdy pillar of his body until his other arm curls around your waist. You stand with him in the water like that, cradled by shadow and bathed in moonlight.
He is never hasty, but tonight he’s unusually slow. Almost lazy.
Wait, no. Not lazy.
Deliberate.
Each flick of his tongue, scrape of teeth, brush of lips is applied with the same care and reverence afforded to an altar.
You tilt your head to rest against his shoulder, bare your throat. Peer through lidded eyes at the thick fingers twining with yours.
It’s as if he plunged his hands into a fireplace and didn’t care to dust away the charcoal and ash afterwards. It fades at the forearm into alabaster. In the crease of his elbow, it looks like he has ink for blood. You know from experience that it tastes of almonds and tannins, heavy on the tongue like thick wine.
You let him lay you down on the bank, dry and clean. He pampers you on his cock with slow, languid rolls of his hips. Grinds deep, pulls out only halfway to massage the head into that sweet spot over and over until you’re shuddering apart with a deep, heavy moan. He finishes on your stomach and thighs, drawing symbols into your skin before rubbing it in.
“Nikto,” you croon, thumb drawing a line down the left side of his face. From forehead, over his eye, down to the corner of his mouth where there’s an unnatural split. He lets you scrape your nail against the big canine, amusing yourself on the sharper bicuspid just beside it. “My Nikto.”
He purrs into your chest, drooling down your sternum.
“Who do you belong to?” he asks.
You smile, indulgent.
“I belong to Nobody.”

rintarou's sheets are scratchy.
they're new, and haven't yet gone through the wash enough times to properly soften. they haven't been slept on enough times to be fully broken in. you know he bought them because you always used to tease him about his old sheets: faded with some holes in them—a mismatched fitted sheet and top sheet in two different shades of blue, unbefitting of a grown man making grown man money.
so, he got new ones.
these new sheets are green, in the exact shade you like so much—the one you always point out when the two of you are walking in the park near your office on your lunch break. he sent you a picture of the package when he got them home, fishing for praise you refused to give him for doing the bare minimum. they're nice sheets, though. expensive, organic cotton with a high thread count.
but right now, they're scratchy.
and they're irritating you as you lay tangled up in them, the top sheet wrapped around your waist like a belt and twisted around one of your bare legs. you must have been tossing and turning a lot in your sleep, because when you properly rouse from your slumber to take inventory of your surroundings, the first thing you notice is that you're practically knotted into the stiff, new cotton.
you extract yourself from the blankets, stumbling a little towards the door in a fog, and make your way from rintarou's bedroom in the direction of the kitchen.
"oh," rintarou perks up once you appear around the corner, his eyes bright when they spot you. "you're up."
you shuffle around the kitchen counter towards him, your head heavy and pounding, your mouth dry. you feel nauseated, and without thinking, you slump against him with your forehead pressing into the valley between his shoulder blades. you're confused. you're hungover. but he's warm, and smells like laundry detergent. suddenly you feel a little less queasy.
"what's going on?" you grumble into his back. you peel yourself away from him, blinking slowly, and sweep your gaze around the room to get a better sense of things.
suna holds up a frying pan and a whisk. "i'm cooking!"
you blink again. "okay?"
it's not what you meant when you asked him your first question, but rintarou simply smiles. he has an almost puppy-like personality when he gets like this—you can almost picture ears atop his head and a tail wagging happily as he stares down at you.
"how'd i get here last night?"
rintarou freezes, but only for a moment. he quickly turns his back to you again to continue on whatever misguided culinary adventure he'd been attempting before you woke up. "you were pretty drunk."
"my seniors kept egging me on," you complain, rubbing your forehead as the hazy memory surfaces from the night before. it was a company dinner you couldn't get out of, and it had quickly spiralled out of hand. "i don't even remember leaving."
rintarou laughs a little. but he still won't look at you.
"suna."
he doesn't turn, whisking something you can't identify but that you're almost certain should not be whisked in a bowl in front of him on the counter.
"suna." you repeat yourself again.
suddenly, a wave of nausea overtakes you.
no.
no.
you pat yourself down in search of your phone, but the attempt is useless. you're dressed in one of rintarou's t-shirts and boxers, neither of which come equipped with any pockets, and your phone is nowhere to be found. you whip your head around in search of it, but don't spot it anywhere in the immediate vicinity.
"hey—" rintarou finally looks at you when he senses your alarm, and his tone mirrors your own panic. "don't—!"
you swipe his cellphone off the counter in front of him, using the passcode you'd managed to weasel out of him a few months ago to unlock the device and navigate to his call log. you take off running as you tap your way through the various screens on his phone, but he's quickly in pursuit of you—leaving whatever he'd had on the stove to burn like he world's saddest funeral pyre.
"stop, stop!" rintarou is faster than you are, and has longer legs, but even by the time he catches you, you've already found what you're looking for in his call history. he snakes an arm around your waist, pulling you down onto his sofa with him in the living room, and the two of you land in a tangle of limbs against the cushions, your breathing laboured.
"i didn't make this call, did i?" you ask meekly, pointing at a brief call in the late hours of the night prior that sits at the top of his call history. it's from your number, but you're confident you hadn't been the one to dial.
rintarou pouts a little bit, avoiding your eyes. after a moment he shakes his head. you groan, rolling over on the sofa underneath him and hiding your face in your hands.
"i wasn't even there long, i promise," rintarou says, his voice impossibly close because of the way the two of you are sprawled across the sofa. his breath is warm against the column of your throat when he speaks.
you refuse to look at him.
"i didn't even say anything embarassing."
you still don't budge.
"i made sure to thank your coworkers for calling me to come get you and everything."
your hangover has been overtaken by your own mortification, a horrible heat creeping up your face to accompany the taste of bile in your throat. you've been so, so careful not to let your relationship and your career overlap thus far. so cautious about introducing rintarou into parts of your life that would make it even harder to face if or when the time came that he wasn't around anymore.
"are you embarrassed of me?"
his question makes your chest ache. the way he says it twists the knife.
you lift your face from your hands and peek at him over your shoulder. he's so close that your noses almost brush.
"no." you mean it.
the anxiety in rintarou's gaze eases. he presses closer.
"you sure?"
you narrow your eyes at him. "depends. were you wearing that awful yellow track suit?"
rintarou laughs, all breath, and then dips down to kiss you softly. you want to complain that you haven't even brushed your teeth yet, or that you kind of feel like you might be sick, or that whatever he was trying to cook is on the brink of burning down the building. but you don't. you just let him rest on top of you. you let yourself enjoy it.
when he finally pulls away, rintarou has a somewhat sly smile on his face.
"what, rin?" you ask him gently.
"just wondering if now that i've met your coworkers you're going to let me come visit you at lunch, or if you're still gonna make me hide in the park."
"i like the park," you pout.
because the park is green, the colour you like so much. like rintarou's scratchy bedsheets. and his eyes.
"okay, okay," he laughs, pressing his forehead against yours. "i like the park, too."

I am always on the lookout for new free and open-source tools in the home lab and production environments. One really excellent tool discovered recently is a tool called SigNoz. SigNoz is a free and open-source syslog server and observability program that provides an open-source alternative to Datadog, Relic, and others. Let’s look at SigNoz and see some of the features it offers. We will also…

I'm not the most security savvy but two-factor authentication makes me deeply suspicious. Is it actually more secure or is it just annoying? Especially the ones that send a code to your phone that pops up in your notifications.
It is genuinely, massively, TREMENDOUSLY more secure to use 2FA/MFA than to not use it.
One of our clients is currently under attack by a group that appears to be using credential stuffing; they are making educated guesses about the accounts they're trying to lot into based on common factors showing up in the credentials in years of pastes and breaches and leaks. Like, let's say it's a professional arborist's guild and their domain is arborist.tree and they've had three hundred members who have had their credentials compromised in the last ten years and the people looking at all the passwords associated with arborist.tree noticed that the words "arboreal" and "conifer" and "leaf" and "branch" show up over and over and over again in the passwords for the members of the professional arborist's guild.
So they can make an educated guess for how to log in to accounts belonging to the tree-loving tree lover's club, combine that with the list of legitimate emails, and go to town.
And they are in fact going to town. We're getting between 1000 and 4000 login attempts per hour. It's been happening for a couple weeks.
And every single one of those attempts is failing - in spite of some pretty poor password practices that believe me, I have been doing some talking about - as a result of having MFA enforced for the entire group. They all use an app that is synced to their individual accounts with a mobile device, except that sometimes you have trouble getting a code when you're up in a tree so some of them have physical MFA tokens.
People try to sign into my tumblr sometimes. To those people I say: lol, good luck, I couldn't guess my own password with a gun to my head. But if I *did* have some password that was, like "tiny-bastard-is#1" they would also need access to my email address because I've got MFA set up on tumblr. And to THAT I say: lol, good luck, it's complex passwords and MFA all the way down.
Of the types of MFA that most people will run across, the most secure to least secure hierarchy goes physical token>app based one-time-passwords>tie between email and SMS. Email and SMS are less preferred because email is relatively easy to capture and open in transit and cellphone SIMs can be cloned to capture your text messages. But if you are using email or SMS for your authentication you are still miles and miles and miles ahead of people who are not using any kind of authentication.
MFA is, in fact, so effective that I only advise people to turn it on if they are 100% sure that they will be able to access the account if they lose access to the device that had the authenticator on it. You usually can do this by saving a collection of recovery codes someplace safe (I recommend doing this in the secure notes section of your password manager on the entry for the site in question - if this is not a feature that your password manager has, I recommend that you get a better password manager, and the password manager I recommend is bitwarden).
A couple weeks ago I needed to get into a work account that I had created in 2019. In 2022, my boss had completely taken me off of managing that service and had his own account, so I deleted it from my authenticator. Then in 2024 my boss sold the business but didn't provide MFA for a ton of the accounts we've got. I was able to get back into my account because five years earlier I had taken a photo of the ten security codes from the company and saved them in a folder on my desktop called "work recovery codes." If you are going to use MFA, it is VITALLY IMPORTANT that you save recovery codes for the accounts you're authenticating someplace that you'll be able to find them, because MFA is so secure that the biggest problem with it is locking people out of their accounts.
In any kind of business context, I think MFA should be mandatory. No question.
For personal accounts, I think you should be pointed and cautious where you apply it, and always leave yourself another way in. There are SO MANY stories about people having their phones wiped or stolen or destroyed and losing MFA with the device because they didn't have a backup of the app or hadn't properly transferred it to a new device.
But it's also important to note that MFA is not a "fix all security forever" thing - I've talked about session hijacking here and the way you most often see MFA defeated is by tricking someone into logging in to a portal that gives them access to your cookies. This is usually done by phishing and sending someone a link to a fake portal.
That is YET ANOTHER reason that you should be using a good password manager that allows you to set the base domain for the password you're using so that you can be sure you're not logging in to a faked portal. If your password manager doesn't have that feature (setting the domain where you can log in to the base domain) then I recommend that you get a better password manager (get bitwarden.)
In 2020 my terrible boss wanted me to write him a book about tech that he could have run off at a vanity press and could give to prospect customers as a business card. That was a terrible idea, but I worked on the book anyway and started writing it as a book about security for nontechnical people. I started out with a very simple statement:
If every one of our customers did what we recommend in the first four chapters of this book (make good backups, use a password manager and complex unique passwords, enable MFA, and learn how to avoid phishing), we would go out of business, because supporting problems that come from those four things is about 90-95% of our work.
So yes, absolutely, please use MFA. BUT! Save your recovery codes.

Summonings
Ever since Danny Phantom became the Ghost King, he’s had to deal with an endless amount of crap. An eternity of it, actually, and it was constantly causing him unending amount of existential crises and stress.
First, there was the paperwork. Pariah Dark, the incompetent asshole, had left him decades worth of bureaucracy to painfully sift through. He ended up hiring some ghosts with paperwork obsessions to sort some of that out. Who knew ruling the infinite realms would require this much paperwork? He’s lucky each section of the underworld had their own systems to report to their own rulers who, in turn, report to him.
Secondly, there were the Observers. And other ghosts, like his own rogues, but they were the main issues. Eyeball menaces. They protested his appointment, something he actually agreed with. Putting a fifteen year old on the throne is rarely a smart decision. But the Infinite Realm values strength, the only type of currency that matters in the land of the gods and the dead. Danny? Phantom? He’s got strength in spades. With only a few months of being a ghost, Danny had managed to defeat Pariah Dark, who had cowered gods and struck fear into the hearts of ghost heroes.
But Danny hasn’t quite realized the significance of that yet, too focused on the realization that he was about to be in charge of the infinite realms. The Observants, since his reluctant and extremely limited coronation, has been up his ass about doing things the “proper way.”
Danny’s main problem lies with the ridiculous amount of paperwork though. It’s fine. Tedious. But fine.
But if he gets one more fifteen page essay style complaint form about some guy named Constantine, Danny might seriously reconsider donning Dan’s ruthlessness and offing the guy himself. Perhaps grab the man by his shoulders and shake him like a rag doll and ask who the fuck told him it was a good idea to sell his soul out like that? Danny eventually just sent out Skulker to hunt down the contracts and trade minor services for them. He owns most of the soul now, and perhaps he’ll hunt this guy down and force him to do paperwork.
Regardless, paperwork was just often tedious. He’s worked out a system for himself. The halfa, true to his teenage form, had better things to be doing. His homework, for one. Hanging out with his friends and logging in hours for Doomed 2 would be another. But no, he’s here, twirling a pen as he glared down at a stack of forms for a zone expansion. What the fuck does Zeus want to expand his zone for? The current share space of the sky domain is literally a perfect balance with respect towards the other gods. For the love of- Danny slams down a red ‘REJECTED’ stamp on top of the stack. His hair flickers wildly in annoyance, the iced over Crown floating above his head emitting concerning levels of frost. To anyone else but himself, of course.
He then feels a soft tug on his core.
Right. The third most annoying thing about becoming King: the fucking summoning. Danny taps his pen against his lips, clicking it against his fangs, as he considers the summoning circle that calls him. Huh. Desperation. Mildly bloody. Fear. Resignation- ah, fuck it, it’s not like he’s too enthusiastic about staying to do work with the Observers poking around. He takes the summoning, allowing his regalia to overtake his normal hazmat-clad form, and approves the summoning.
Oh hey, Danny thinks he recognizes that ugly ass trenchcoat.
—-
John Constantine has had more than enough practice summoning things that would give people nightmares. But there are things he normally refuses to touch, refuses to even entertain the idea of trying. As usual, desperation made John its bitch and the Justice League’s battered and bruised faces tugged on his shriveled heart.
He’s going to summon something from the Infinite Realms. Oh, but he wasn’t just summoning any old ghost. No, he thought, I’m just going to summon the one being that’s guaranteed to be able to crush our universe without breaking a sweat. Bollocks.
“Is it ready?”
“Untwist your pants, spooky,” John snaps, wishing he had a crate of whiskey he could down. “We’re trying to summon the Ghost King, not your average demon.”
“What do we know about him?” Batman’s gravelly voice demanded.
“Powerful enough to take us all out without even breaking a sweat. Defeated the bloody tyrant who ruled over the Realms last I heard.”
“That’s it?”
“You could ask Deadman, but I heard he’s on the outs with the Infinite Realms on the fact that he’s made of pure magic, not ectoplasm.”
“There’s no guarantee the king will work with us.” Zatanna says, pressing her fingertips together tiredly. She had been at the forefront of the battle and had paid the price for it. “But he’s supposedly more benevolent than his predecessor… and we’re out of options.”
“Hm.”
“Just make sure to shut up and let me do the talking.”
“Hn.”
John rolls his eyes and takes a fortifying breath, something that does not go unnoticed by the League. They all tense up, preparing themselves for a battle. Another one, seeing as they all got their ass kicked by a ghost only ten hours ago. The League is spread thin, running interference to distract the ghost in question and evacuating civilians.
John Constantine started chanting, the glow of his magic lighting up the circle as he spills his blood into the circle.
He waits, heart in his throat, for the summoning to work.
“Is it supposed to take-” Red Robin asks, only to cut himself off as the circle flares once more. Power pulsates outwards from the circle. Frost crackles on the frost resistant floors, spreading outwards as a green portal rips open the fabric of time and space. Long, spindly imitations of a hand grabs the edges of space and pulls, heaving the rest of his celestial body out of the tear in reality. John does not look away. He can not look away, not from the eerie green pallor of the King, not from his torrential white wisps of hair, not from the black-hole like material of his outfit, not from the nebulas and beginnings and endings tailored onto the King’s cape. John could not look away from the ice crown that floated like a bastion of power above the king’s head.
His mouth is dry. What price will he have to pay to save the world? What price will this being demand of him, of the Justice League, to save the world?
John desperately needs that drink.
—-
Oh! He’s in his home dimension! His core purrs at coming home, at the close proximity to his first haunt.
He was expecting cultists, or even the Winchesters again, but this is nice.
The Justice League- summoning him. Sam and Tucker are going to flip when they hear about this.
They’ve been staring at him in silence for a bit now. It was getting awkward.
“Why have you summoned me?” He asks, softening his tone. By their winces, he didn’t get it as well as he thought. Danny grimaces. At the first sign of discomfort though, the man in the trenchcoat- is that fucking Constantine?!- launches into a nerve filled tirade.
“Your, uh, Majesty.” He starts. “One of… One of your subjects is wreaking havoc on the world. We would be extremely grateful if… if you could reign him in?”
Danny’s face sours, only to quickly clear his expression as he realized how much even a small hint of displeasure causes the jumpiness in Constantine and the others.
“To do that, I will have to make a contract with you, seeing as you’ve summoned me.” Danny drawls, letting his overly long digits wave at the summoning circle in question. He could break it, of course, but Danny’s bored and trying to draw this out. He’s not saying he’d take a batch of cookies as payment but that’s exactly what he’s saying.
“The price… you could always have my soul?”
Danny pauses. “Your… soul?”
Oh, he did not say what he just said.
“Yes. My soul.”
Oh, he did.
Fuck it. Danny’s flashbacks of suffering through the reports pushes green into his irises and urgency to his action.
He breaks out of the circle, hands lunging and gripping Constantine’s jaw tightly. Danny ignores the shouts of alarm as he allows the thrown weapons to pass through him.
John Constantine is panicking now, struggling in the air as Danny lifts him an inch off the floor in agitation.
Good.
“Your soul, little wizard? The one you’ve split eight ways till the thirtieth of February? The one that caused,” he tightens his grip, no doubt bruising the man. “An insane amount of paperwork that I’ve had to suffer through. Your soul, John Constantine?”
Danny hisses his name. The man makes a warbling noise that Danny takes as acknowledgement. Danny bats away the weak spell Zatanna sends at him with a hand.
“You’ll find that I am in the possession of most of your soul contracts. To simply put,” he grins, teeth made of dying stars on display. “I own your soul. My soul, now.”
He drops the wizard who collapses onto his knees to stare up at him in horror, eyes flicking between the circle that was meant to contain him and Danny, who is very much not contained. He crouches down- something necessary but disjointed as he’s not used to this taller form- and speaks to Constantine in a slow, dead serious, drawl.
“If you ever sell your soul again, you and I are going to have issues. Is that clear, John Constantine?”
“Uh- yeah, yes, yes, your majesty.”
Patting his cheek condescendingly, Danny gets up and sighs, stress relieved. He’s starting to feel bad, though, so he allows his form to ripple back to his normal teenage Phantom self.
“Well, it’s not like anyone will buy it, since they know they’ll have to go against me.” He chirps, flipping 180 from his terror inducing eldritch voice. “So, what’ll you pay me to get rid of whatever ghost you’ve got?”
“…. Nothing?”
Red Robin holds out a bag, eyebags betraying his exhaustion. “I’ve got fifty dollars and a bag of cookies.”
Phantom beams at him. “Throw in a couple of autographs and you’ve got a deal.”
“That’s- yeah, okay.” Red Robin says, inching forward cautiously to hand him the bag.
“Great. I’ll be back for them later. You can call me Phantom. ‘Your Majesty’ gets annoying after a while.”
“Thank- thank you for your mercy, Your- Phantom.” Wonder Woman says.
“Sure. Make sure this idiot doesn’t make any more deals with demons while I’m out, yeah?”
With that, Danny Phantom grabs the bag of cookies and fifty dollars and flies through the wall to do his job.
John slams his head onto the space station floor.
“Fuck.”
—-
Danny: lol I’ll do it for the shits and giggles
Constantine and the League: he’s terrifying, a bastion of pure power and authority
Red Robin, Young “we commit war crimes bc it gets shit done” Justice leader and fellow gremlin: he’d probably do it for cookies. I would.

Tumblr media
bllk boys and their mean girlfriends ft nagi seishiro, hiori yo, michael kaiser
notes: i got asked to make a part 2, reader is still a bitch, hiori and kaiser's kinda suggestive?, part 1
Tumblr media
༄ nagi seishiro:
✣ his pr team asking him to care about his girlfriend’s actions is like pulling teeth - only twenty times more frustrating. whatever you say goes as far as he’s concerned. even if he himself doesn’t wanna do something, the glare in your eyes with your foot tapping impatiently on the hardwood floor causes a quiet, “yes, boss,” to fall from his lips in submission. maybe he’s a tiny bit scared of you, but he also knows it’s just easier to give you whatever you want and be your watchdog to shield you from criticism instead.
⁀➷ if nagi died in the next five seconds then he would be satisfied. going out with your nails gently massaging his scalp while he snuggles against your stomach and plays on his phone is probably the closest to heaven anyone has ever been. so when that hand is so cruel as to leave his head in favor of smashing the keys on your phone, he’s very obviously displeased. “come baaack,” he mumbles with a slight whine in his voice. you’re unresponsive, causing him to move and look up at you, asking, “what are you doing now?” he has a vague idea of what considering his manager is rapid texting him to log onto your account and delete your tweets, but he simply mutes the conversation. you mutter that it’s nothing he needs to worry about, and he just responds with, “mkay,” before tugging your hand to his hair again, intent on being coddled by you.
༄ hiori yo:
✣ the devil on your shoulder whispering to do all this stuff in the first place. he knows he looks completely harmless, so you’re the perfect cover for him to let out all his deranged thoughts by proxy. it looks like he has a tight leash on you, but the reins are barely even held in his hands. kurona sends him an interview one of the paparazzi managed to snag of you walking out from the grocery store, and hiori flat out leaves practice because he needs to see you now.
⁀➷ the recording of your voice echoes from his cell phone while he enters your shared home after rushing there. a grin lies on his face as he hears you tell the reporter how you’re thrilled that his worthless life led him to hassling a soccer player’s girlfriend before yanking his camera and throwing it on the ground. a fair share of comments say you had every right to do so considering the invasive nature of the press while the rest disagree, saying it was far too aggressive. if anything, hiori wishes you were more aggressive.
you can’t even get a word in as he sits on the couch, gripping your wrists almost painfully while tugging you into his lap. his lips are on yours faster than you can blink - kissing you so hard you feel lightheaded but it’s just not enough. hiori needs you pliant beneath him, that nasty streak of yours quelled by his suffocating hold. despite that, part of him wants you kicking and cursing him out, teeth gnashing as blood from your lips trickles into his mouth. his heart is clawing its way out of his chest and eager to jump into yours, for you to become an extension of his body. an endless plethora of breathy “i love you”s is his confession of how badly he wants to break you, and have you break him in return.
༄ michael kaiser:
✣ be serious - he’s the one you’re fighting with the most. there’s nothing he loves more than to rile you up, knowing how fast your temper will crack. a self proclaimed expert at getting under your skin if he had to describe it. though he still enjoys seeing how harsh you can be with the general public, his favorite pastime will always be pissing you off. quite frankly, he tends to get jealous when you’re paying just a bit too much attention to others during your rampages.
⁀➷ an amused smirk rests on kaiser’s face as he leisurely stands against the frame of your shared bedroom’s door. if he’s being honest, part of him isn’t even listening. you’re busy spitting out insults about his demeanor towards one of your friends and all he can think about is ripping the attitude out of you. not forever, of course. the enjoyment he gets from your outbursts is far too valuable. maybe just for a night or two so he can enjoy his docile puppy before you begin baring your teeth towards him once more. even now as you grow more irate, he’s walking over like he has all the time in the world - completely unbothered.
his fingers curl around your chin, paying no mind to the way you try to bite them off. instead, he’s cooing at you like you’re a harmless child. “hm? what’s got you all worked up, haschen? have i not been giving you enough attention?” his all-knowing tone infuriates you and you’re about to try and mutilate him until his hand slides down to your throat, squeezing just enough to know that he can and will rip the breath from your lungs. voice eerily low, he stares into your eyes with a piercing grin and unsettling smile, asking, “should i show you how i deal with feral animals?”

Another sweet sweet price thot💋
Okay but let’s talk about Mountain man Price. He retired a few years ago and decided he much prefers the solitude of the beautiful mountains, with the tips of them all covered in snow. He likes the quiet, knowing he won’t run into anyone here. No one from the little town at the bottom of the mountains would be brave enough to hike the mountain trail.
He remembers the day he built his nice log cabin with the help of his trusty lieutenant of course. Simon helped his Captain one last time, before parting ways. Price wanted to be alone, after everything he’d experienced in the military, he wanted it to be just himself and the weather to keep him company.
He’d have the survival skills no doubt about it, but the more time he spent up there the more his social skills began to fade away. He’d have to come down every six months or so to restock his food, he make his trip down the hike trail to the little town at the bottom of the mountains and through the woods.
But the shop workers weren’t his biggest fans. He’d practically clear them out of their stock, the poor little local shop. They didn’t like his attitude either, found him strange and unapproachable. Though that’s exactly what John was going for. The less people that spoke to him, the better.
Until he met you of course.
It was only your second week at your new job, you’d just moved to the little town around a month ago and this was the only job available after some woman called Darlene went of maternity leave.
My gosh the way you’d be so nice to him having no idea the stigma that surrounded him and how suprised he’d be at the kindness you showed him. He’d actually look forward to coming down to the town.
He’d come more often as well, saying he’d ran out of supplies and yet he’d only buy a bag of fruit or some meat. Then he’d start to tidy up his appearance too, trim his over grown beard and moustache back to its former glory. The blush that would spread across your cheeks the first time you see him like that.
Hair trimmed too, you’d be able to see his perfect lips and crooked smile. It provoked a feeling in you that you’d long forgotten. Slowly but surely he’d start trying to flirt. Trying. Though you found it endearing how bad he was at it. Finally though he’d succeeded asking you out on a date and fuck the moment he’d turn up in his dark blue jeans, black shirt and dark brown leather jacket and boots. You swooned.
He had the charm turned on, especially after his phone call with his ex team. They could all hear how nervous their former captain was for this date. It made them very intrigued to meet you one day.
John didn’t miss a beat, almost as if he’d laid this date out like a mission. Going step by step to win your heart. He made you laugh so hard your stomach hurt, made you smile until your cheeks ached. Ordered the food and drinks impressively, no umming or stuttering.
He gave you butterflies when he reached over the table to grab your hand in his larger one. The skin was rough and calloused, but it felt amazing against your hand. He loved how soft your skin felt against his. He traced around the palm of your hand with his thick index finger, those gorgeous ocean eyes gazing into your soul.
After dinner, John took you to a local bar that you were pleasantly surprised with. A few drinks later you tipsily confessed how handsome you thought he was. The longer the evening went on, the more longing looks and teasing touches were shared.
The evening ended with the two of you slow dancing until last call. The way your bodies pressed together, the intimacy and warmth. The way he’d always make eye contact, almost as if he was trying to read you. The way he held you so tender yet tight, his large hands on your body. It all just felt so right.
John walked you home, looking so sad when it was time to part ways. “Please, let’s do this again sweetheart.” When your manager Billy had called you that, it made you feel sick. Had the hairs on the back of your neck standing up, disgust shivering down your body. But when John said it, damn. Your body shivered in delight, the deep mumble entangled with that delicious accent of his made you gulp back a lump in your throat. You swear your underwear was a little wet too.
You nodded leaning forward to kiss his cheek goodnight, John was quick to take your cheeks into his hands and press his wanting lips against yours. He was hungry and almost vicious when he kissed you, it made you wonder what kind of lover he was like as he pressed you against your front door and kissed you like he’d never get the chance again.

Fantasy au -> Warrior!Soap x Healer!Reader
CW: 18+ MDNI, light bloodplay, noncon undertones, dacryphilia if you squint
not edited - 800 words - dividers -> @/cafekitsune
You’ve had just about enough of that axe-swinging asshole, built like an ox and thrice as stubborn.
You’re absolutely beside yourself asking why you’re sticking it out in his half-baked party. John, as he had practically breathed the name down your neck, couldn’t keep a decent healer and now you know all too well why. He was mean, smelly, loud, and worst of all- overly familiar despite your best efforts to stamp out any flame of acquaintanceship. You could write ballads dedicated to reasons you should leave this party, but truth be told? You were down on your luck. You wondered sometimes if you were cursed with misfortune, a hilariously horrid timeline of events leading you to this very position right now. So you’ve made a few mistakes, hasn’t everyone in the pursuit of dungeon crawling?
Even so, was the state of your freelance healing career really so bad that you had to saddle up with someone like John MacTavish? The man had been naught more than a trail thief brute-forcing his way into other parties’ treasure a few years ago, but because of a few lucky encounters in monster slaying, suddenly he was picking up jobs in adventurer hubs like it was something he was born to do. It pissed you off to no end and he knew it. Loved seeing your indignant scowl while you healed him up knowing better work was near impossible for you to come by.
“Och- that’s it, ‘m sore there.” He’d groaned, humid breath fanning your skin, god, why was he always so close? “Gonna show me that pretty glow, lamb?”
“No.” You bit, rubbing the salve a touch deeper than needed. Your lips twitched seeing his eyebrows draw tight. “It’s not so bad that you need healing, stop being a baby.”
The man snorted in response. “That’s why no other parties’ll take ye on, lamb.” His deep blue eyes searched your own, a wild smirk twisting across his mouth. “Terrible bedside manner.” You flushed slightly, shooting him a sharp glare that caused him to lean back on his makeshift fallen and rotted log seat with a pleased grin as he inspected his wound. Like the ever-expressive man he was, his face suddenly took on a shade of concern. “Ach-!”
“Huh?” Was all you could muster, confused as to what he could be so worried about.
“Think I got nicked by something venomous, lamb, need yer healing.” He seethed out. “Oh for- let me see.” You sighed, grabbing his uselessly huge hand. As expected, his palm was fine, albeit still a bit bloody as the salve worked to stop it.
Wrong move.
Upon inspecting his wound, the adventurer managed to shove his palm into your face with a vicious grin, huffing through his nose a bit as he smeared blood across your mouth. Sputtering only invited the acrid taste of bitter salve, sweat, and copper onto your tastebuds as he laughed and continued to wipe his hand across your face. “See?” He chuckled “M’still hurt.” His eyes seemed to glisten like the northern stormy coast seeing his own blood on your skin. “Suits you.”
You pushed his hand away, misinterpreting his words in a way that scratched at a sore spot of your own. “I didn’t kill them, John! Stop holding that over my head!” You snarled, causing his eyes to widen a fraction. You wiped his blood off your face with your arm, only to smear it around more and get it on the limb. Great. It was then you realized you had a runny nose as well, were you starting to cry? “I fucked up- but my god, they lived, okay?” And now you couldn’t get a gig better than this one because of that fact, a voice in the back of your head snarked. It’s true too, they made sure no party worth its salt would ever take you on. You still have no idea why John did either in all honesty, for all his faults and the high turnover rate, he had a seemingly bottomless fount of healers willing to take a shot at being the one to stick.
John cupped your cheeks. “None of tha’.” He spoke lowly. One of his calloused thumbs swiped at an emerging tear before it could fall and you had to watch, mouth slightly agape as he brought the pad of his thumb to his lips without much thought, tongue darting out to taste. You blinked as he clapped that hand down on your shoulder, leaning closer. “None of tha’…” he repeated, quieter this time. He looked so focused. “Dinnae give a shit about those no-names, lamb, neither should you.”
You swallowed audibly when met with his intensity, his voice a rolling growl. “Fuck- seeing ye all covered in my blood’s got me stiffer than a rock. Palm’s busted and you won’t heal me. Cannae do a thing about it, feel like ah’m gonna-“
“I can heal your hand.” You urged, the oppressive haze he left you with suddenly lifting.
He snorted in response. “Though so, lamb.” His palm connected with your hair, ruffling his blood into your locks before moving down to pat your cheek. “What a dutiful healer ye’ are… So good te’ me. Let me see tha’ gorgeous glow.”

Good News - June 15-21
Like these weekly compilations? Tip me at $Kaybarr1735! And if you tip me and give me a way to contact you, at the end of the month I'll send you a link to all of the articles I found but didn't use each week!
1. Victory for Same-Sex Marriage in Thailand
Tumblr media
“Thailand’s Senate voted 130-4 today to pass a same-sex marriage bill that the lower house had approved by an overwhelming majority in March. This makes Thailand the first country in Southeast Asia, and the second in Asia, to recognize same-sex relationships. […] The Thai Marriage Equality Act […] will come into force 120 days after publication in the Royal Gazette. It will stand as an example of LGBT rights progress across the Asia-Pacific region and the world.”
2. One of world’s rarest cats no longer endangered
Tumblr media
“[The Iberian lynx’s] population grew from 62 mature individuals in 2001 to 648 in 2022. While young and mature lynx combined now have an estimated population of more than 2,000, the IUCN reports. The increase is largely thanks to conservation efforts that have focused on increasing the abundance of its main food source - the also endangered wild rabbit, known as European rabbit. Programmes to free hundreds of captive lynxes and restoring scrublands and forests have also played an important role in ensuring the lynx is no longer endangered.”
3. Planning parenthood for incarcerated men
“[M]any incarcerated young men missed [sex-ed] classroom lessons due to truancy or incarceration. Their lack of knowledge about sexual health puts them at a lifelong disadvantage. De La Cruz [a health educator] will guide [incarcerated youths] in lessons about anatomy and pregnancy, birth control and sexually transmitted infections. He also explores healthy relationships and the pitfalls of toxic masculinity. […] Workshops cover healthy relationships, gender and sexuality, and sex trafficking.”
4. Peru puts endemic fog oasis under protection
Tumblr media
“Lomas are unique ecosystems relying on marine fog that host rare and endemic plants and animal species. […] The Peruvian government has formally granted conservation status to the 6,449-hectare (16,000-acre) desert oasis site[….] The site, the first of its kind to become protected after more than 15 years of scientific and advocacy efforts, will help scientists understand climatic and marine cycles in the area[, … and] will be protected for future research and exploration for at least three decades.”
5. Religious groups are protecting Pride events — upending the LGBTQ+ vs. faith narrative
Tumblr media
“In some cases, de-escalation teams stand as a physical barrier between protesters and event attendees. In other instances, they try to talk with protesters. The goal is generally to keep everyone safe. Leigh was learning that sometimes this didn’t mean acting as security, but doing actual outreach. That might mean making time and space to listen to hate speech. It might mean offering food or water. […] After undergoing Zoom trainings this spring, the members of some 120 faith organizations will fan out across more than 50 Pride events in 16 states to de-escalate the actions of extremist anti-LGBTQ+ hate groups.”
6. 25 years of research shows how to restore damaged rainforest
“For the first time, results from 25 years of work to rehabilitate fire-damaged and heavily logged rainforest are now being presented. The study fills a knowledge gap about the long-term effects of restoration and may become an important guide for future efforts to restore damaged ecosystems.”
7. Audubon and Grassroots Carbon Announce First-of-its-Kind Partnership to Reward Landowners for Improving Habitats for Birds while Building Healthy Soils
Tumblr media
“Participating landowners can profit from additional soil carbon storage created through their regenerative land management practices. These practices restore grasslands, improve bird habits, build soil health and drive nature-based soil organic carbon drawdown through the healthy soils of farms and ranches. […] Additionally, regenerative land management practices improve habitats for birds. […] This partnership exemplifies how sustainable practices can drive positive environmental change while providing tangible economic benefits for landowners.”
8. Circular food systems found to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions, require much less agricultural land
“Redesigning the European food system will reduce agricultural land by 44% while dramatically reducing greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture by 70%. This reduction is possible with the current consumption of animal protein. “Moreover, animals are recyclers in the system. They can recycle nutrients from human-inedible parts of the organic waste and by-products in the food system and convert them to valuable animal products," Simon says.”
9. Could Treating Injured Raptors Help Lift a Population? Researchers found the work of rehabbers can have long-lasting benefits
Tumblr media
“[“Wildlife professionals”] tend to have a dismissive attitude toward addressing individual animal welfare,” [… but f]or most raptor species, they found, birds released after rehabilitation were about as likely to survive as wild birds. Those released birds can have even broader impacts on the population. Back in the wild, the birds mate and breed, raising hatchlings that grow up to mate and breed, too. When the researchers modeled the effects, they found most species would see at least some population-level benefits from returning raptors to the wild.”
10. Indigenous people in the Amazon are helping to build bridges & save primates
Tumblr media
“Working together, the Reconecta Project and the Waimiri-Atroari Indigenous people build bridges that connect the forest canopy over the BR-174 road[….] In the first 10 months of monitoring, eight different species were documented — not only monkeys such as the golden-handed tamarin and the common squirrel monkey (Saimiri sciureus), but also kinkajous (Potos flavus), mouse opossums (Marmosops sp.), and opossums (Didelphis sp.).”
Bonus: A rare maneless zebra was born in the UK
